I have been in business as a freelance writer for over 25 years with an office in our home (which works very well for me and for my family). My special gift is taking a complicated topic and writing about it so that the reader – patient, client, customer, and parent – understands the issues. I have a master’s degree in education and post-masters in gerontology.
Mid-November in 2007 my older sister died. Pneumonia was listed on the death certificate but it was anorexia that was the disease. I probably know more about anorexia from researching for articles and from personal experience than most people but that still doesn’t amount to very much.
My goal for this blog is to provide information so that we all learn more about this horrible condition – when the mind and body go awry. My belief is that if others recognize the symptoms early enough that change has a chance for some.
I think the symptoms of anorexia are largely ignored in adults, especially in middle-aged and older women and men. I believe the symptoms of anorexia are denied in middle-aged and older women and men. I would like to think that this blog may change that ignorance and denial.
I’m also hoping that this blog will help other family members and friends and even children be more comfortable with themselves and less angry at the someone who is anorexic.
Three months ago I had no intention of writing this blog. In September, I started a blog on health www.balanceyourhealth.com and the plan to start another blog in December on aging was in the works www.upsideofaging.com .
Both of these are relative to my freelance writing. www.theagingofanorexia.com is my mission.
I’m not sure where it will go but I am counting on readers to help lead the ways.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
